    Runtech Enhances Machine Runnability at Alkim Kağıt in Türkiye

    Runtech Systems has successfully delivered a runnability improvement project to Alkim Kağıt San. ve Tic. A.Ş. at its Kemalpaşa facility in İzmir, Türkiye.

    The scope of delivery for PM2 includes RunPro EasyOne high-release web stabilizers installed in the first dryer group, designed to enhance sheet stability and overall machine performance.

    The stabilizers are equipped with high-release nozzles powered by RunPro Turbo Compressors, which generate effective vacuum levels at the sheet release point of the top dryers. This setup ensures improved sheet handling and optimized runnability in the drying section.

    Alkim Kağıt manufactures photocopy and offset paper at its Kemalpaşa site. Its PM1 has been operating with an EP Turbo Blower since 2016. With the commissioning of PM2, which will produce similar paper grades, the mill’s total annual production capacity is set to reach 215,000 tonnes. In addition, a RunEco Vacuum System featuring an EP Turbo Blower was installed at the mill last year. Both paper machines are supported by a RunCare service agreement, ensuring efficient operation and long-term reliability of the vacuum systems.

    Commenting on the collaboration, Alkim Kağıt stated that Runtech Systems demonstrated a highly professional and cooperative approach throughout the project. The on-site technical team was experienced, responsive, and easy to work with, contributing to a smooth implementation process and reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the two companies.

    Runtech Systems also highlighted the significance of the project as its third collaboration with Alkim Kağıt. According to Tommi Leander, Sales Manager at Runtech Systems, the investment in EasyOne web stabilizers reflects Alkim’s commitment to improving runnability and process control. He noted that the solution enables optimization of strength properties from start-up, leading to smoother operations and improved efficiency.

    The RunPro EasyOne stabilizers operate without mechanical contact with fabrics, allowing adjustable vacuum levels and minimizing maintenance requirements. By maintaining optimal sheet-to-fabric contact, they also enable reduced draw between press and dryer sections without compromising runnability.

    As part of its standard offering, Runtech Systems replaces traditional lubricated compressors with high-efficiency turbo compressors. The RunPro Turbo Compressor delivers compressed air at 0.3–0.6 bar and features an integrated variable speed drive for precise process control.

    Alkim Kağıt produces woodfree offset, coated, and office papers, with 85–90% of its output serving the domestic market and the remainder exported mainly to Europe. The company continues to focus on achieving high-quality production under cost-efficient conditions while maintaining strong productivity levels.

    Runtech delivers a ropeless tail threading systems to Munksjo Caieiras Ltda, Brazil. The delivery includes Runshooter technology with detailed engineering and startup support. With the upgrade Caieiras targets more fluent and faster tail threading and improved operator safety.

    “Safety issues are getting more and more important in Brazilian markets as well as everywhere else. With our ropeless tail threading system Munksjo is not only lowering significantly risk of injuries, but at the same time increasing efficiency on paper machine by reduced downtime,” says Lari Lampila, Sales and Aftermarket Manager, Runtech Systems.

    Runtech Systems’ ropeless tail threading technology provides numerous benefits. It improves operator safety significantly while also shortening tail threading time during web breaks by up to 80% to increase production. In many cases, the technology enables mills to increase machine speed, which would not be possible with manual tail threading without risking operator safety. Also, thanks to the automated process, operators can focus on other tasks. All these benefits are reflected in a short payback time.

    RunEco Vacuum System has started up at Papirnica Vevče d.o.o., Slovenia.

    The delivery to PM5 included an EP600 Turbo Blower with EcoDrop Water Separator and EcoFlow Dewatering Measurement Systems for wire couch roll save all, press nips and press uhle boxes to help in determining the correct vacuum level and optimizing energy consumption.

    Runtech’s local partner Flowtec supported the mill in the selection of correct valves for the process. “The cooperation with the Vevče team has been really good. Current power consumption of the turbo blower is better than guaranteed. We have shut down five liquid ring pumps and achieved savings of approx.

    25% compared to the previous configuration. EP600 supplies vacuum to couch roll, wire vacuum boxes, transfer roll and felt boxes. EcoFlows now show what is happening in the dewatering process. These tools provide a possibility of further optimizing the existing vacuum system”, says Leonardo Cavirani, Project Manager, Runtech Systems.

    Runtech Systems is launching a new turbo blower model for paper machine vacuum systems.

    The new RunEco EP650 AMB Turbo Blower features active magnetic bearings. The design of EP Turbo Blowers is characterized by its streamlined efficiency, featuring impellers mounted directly onto the motor shaft. This design choice not only simplifies the system but also enhances its reliability, as it requires just two bearings throughout the entire blower. Moreover, the compact design expedites the installation process, making it a swift and straightforward task. With active magnetic bearing technology, these turbo blowers not only boast increased energy efficiency but also demand less maintenance, further enhancing their appeal and reducing long-term operational costs.

    EP650 AMB on the show floor at SPaper and Tissue World

    The new turbo blower model will be showcased at two industry events this spring. Runtech, along with its representative Ferpal, will exhibit at SPaper in Zaragoza, Spain, from March 4-6.

    Tissue World Düsseldorf, the largest tissue event in Europe, will take place from April 8-10, 2025. Runtech Systems will be exhibiting at stand H32.
