In Sweden, construction company ByggPartner, part of ByggPartnerGruppen, has announced that it has been selected as the construction contractor by Arctic Paper Grycksbo AB, part of Poland-headed paper major Arctic Paper S.A. for its biomass-boiler and pellet plant project “BIO-25”.
In August 2023, Arctic Paper announced that it was investing SEK 285 million (≈ EUR 24.3 million) in the expansion and upgrade of its bioenergy installation at its Arctic Paper Grycksbo mill located outside Falun. The BIO-25 investment is part of the company’s plan to achieve climate-neutral production while simultaneously creating business opportunities in green energy.
The mill’s biomass boiler will be fired with sawdust and woodchips after the conversion. In addition to electricity and steam, BIO-25 includes a 50,000 tonnes per annum-capacity wood pellet plant that will use residuals from regional sawmills.
In August 2024, Estonia-headed wood processing technology provider AS Hekotek announced that it had been selected to design and supply the pellet plant including a belt-dryer that will utilize low-temperature surplus heat from the paper machines, two CPM Twin-Track pellets presses as well as automatic pellets-storage and outloading systems. The wet-material handling- and storage systems in the BIO-25 project will be supplied by Finland-headed material handling technology supplier BMH Technology Oy.
