Siddharth Shah : Molygraph Lubricants is a leader in the innovation, formulation, and manufacturer of super specialty lubricants. Our legacy is built on the firm foundation of the Anand Engineers, which was laid in 1976 by Mr. Jayantilal Shah with a great entrepreneurial spirit. The name “Anand” was adopted from Swami Vivekanand, whose exemplary life continues to inspire and motivate all of us, even today.

PD : What is your vision & mission?

SS : At Molygraph, our mission is to deliver cutting-edge lubrication solutions that not only enhance the performance of machinery but also drive sustainability and operational efficiency for our customers.

Our vision is to be a global leader in specialty lubricants, known for our commitment to innovation, reliability, and sustainability. We aim to make a positive impact on industries by delivering products that reduce downtime, enhance performance, and improve the bottom line.

PD : Can you share with us the key challenges the paper industry faces regarding bearing lubrication, and how Molygraph’s products address these issues?

SS : The paper industry operates under extreme conditions where high temperatures, water ingress, and heavy loads are common occurrences.

These factors place significant demands on bearing lubrication, often leading to premature wear and reduced equipment lifespan. At Molygraph, we understand these challenges and have developed specialized lubricants to address them.

Our SGH 460 M grease is designed specifically for paper mill bearings, providing excellent high-temperature performance, exceptional water tolerance, and enhanced corrosion resistance. These features ensure that the bearings are well-protected, even in the wet and humid conditions prevalent in paper mills. Additionally, our grease exhibits superior structural stability, which is crucial for maintaining lubrication under shock loading and extended relubrication intervals.

PD : How does Molygraph’s SGH 460 M grease outperform conventional lubricants in the paper industry?

SS : SGH 460 M stands out due to its proprietary formulation, which offers a blend of high chemical stability and superior protection against rust and corrosion. Its high drop point and mechanical stability make it ideal for severe operating conditions, where conventional lubricants might fail. This grease’s ability to maintain its integrity under high temperatures and water contamination means that it not only protects the bearings but also extends its service life, reducing downtime and maintenance costs for our clients in the paper industry. However, within the paper industry itself, SGH 460 M is particularly beneficial from the wet end to the dry end of the paper production process, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operation across all stages.

PD : In addition to paper mill bearings, what other applications can benefit from Molygraph’s SGH 460 M grease? 

SS : While SGH 460 M is highly effective for paper mill bearings, its application extends to any environment where high temperatures, water contamination, and heavy loads are present. This includes a variety of industrial sectors beyond paper manufacturing.

PD : Bearing failure is a common issue in electric motors used in paper mills. How does Molygraph address this issue?

SS : Electric motor bearings are critical components that require consistent lubrication to function efficiently and prevent failures. Our PUG 9000 Series, a high-performance polyurea grease, is specifically formulated for electric motor bearings, especially in sealed-for-life applications. This grease is ashless, with excellent oxidative stability and thermal resistance, which makes it ideal for high operating temperatures commonly found in paper mills.

One of the key advantages of the PUG 9000 Series is its low oil bleed, which helps maintain lubrication integrity over extended periods, thus reducing the need for frequent maintenance. It also has superior sealing properties, preventing leakage and ensuring that the grease remains in place even under harsh operating conditions. This combination of features makes the PUG 9000 Series a reliable choice for extending the lifespan of electric motor bearings and minimizing unscheduled downtime.

SS : Certainly, one of our clients, a prominent paper mill, was facing frequent downtime due to bearing failures. The mill was using two separate greases for the wet end and dry end, leading to higher inventory costs and inconsistent performance. These issues were primarily caused by water ingress and the high temperatures inherent in their operations. After switching to Molygraph’s SGH 460 M grease, they saw a significant improvement. The grease’s superior water resistance and exceptional high-temperature performance allowed the bearings to function smoothly even under the most challenging conditions. This transition resulted in a dramatic reduction in bearing-related issues, minimizing downtime and cutting maintenance costs. The streamlined use of a single, high-performance grease also helped in reducing inventory costs. This success story shows how Molygraph’s specialized lubricants are making a real difference in the paper industry, ensuring efficiency and reliability in even the most demanding environments.

Our QC lab is outfitted with the latest testing instruments and follows strict procedures at every stage, from raw materials to finished goods, to ensure adherence to stringent quality protocols.

PD : Could you share details about the latest product Molygraph has introduced for the paper industry, and what future plans does the company have for its lubricant offerings?

SS : Our new product Flurotemp 512 is a high-performance PTFE thickened fluorinated synthetic grease designed for extreme high-temperature applications. This product offers exceptional resistance to oxidation and chemicals, ensuring reliable lubrication even in the most demanding environments. Ideal for use in single facer pressure roll bearings, Corrugator bearings, oven trolley bearings, godet bearings, roto molding arms, and hot bearings in plastic extrusion machines.

Looking ahead, we aim to expand our global footprint further, especially in emerging markets. We are also focused on advancing our R&D efforts to develop next-generation lubricants that cater to the evolving demands of various industries. Sustainability will continue to be a major priority, and we are investing in new technologies to enhance the environmental performance of our products. Ultimately, our goal is to remain at the forefront of the lubricant industry, providing innovative solutions that drive efficiency and reliability for our customers.

PD : Being a part of the paper industry, how do you see paper sustainability, and how can it be made more sustainable in India?

SS : Sustainability is becoming increasingly critical in the paper industry, and Molygraph is committed to supporting this transformation. The use of lubricants, such as our SGH 460 M grease, plays a key role in reducing the environmental impact of paper mills. These greases reduce energy consumption, extend equipment life, and minimize waste, all of which contribute to a more sustainable operation.

In India, we see significant potential for the paper industry to become more sustainable by focusing on efficient resource utilization, adopting renewable energy, and investing in technologies that reduce water and energy consumption.
